Today was snatch day in my loose following of the StrongFirst SFG Kettlebell Certification Prep Guide.

Warmup:

Face-the-wall squats – 20 reps
Windmill stretch – 20 reps

Workout:

Double kettlebell deadlifts
20 kg kettlebells – 6 x 5 = 30 reps, 2640 pounds

Snatch
12 kg kettlebell
As many snatches as possible in 15 minutes
218 reps = 5668 pounds

Weight: 8308 pounds

This was my first day to experiment with double kettlebell deadlifts using a pair of 20 kg kettlebells. The weight is not especially challenging, but maintaining perfect form for 30 reps is a challenge. I like these moves okay, but think I will start to do goblet squats on some days and not include deadlifts more than once or twice per week.

I did 10 snatches with my left hand and then 10 snatches with my right hand repeatedly until completing 100. I was a little lost with regard to time and am not sure whether this took a little more than 4 minutes or a little more than 5 minutes. In either case, after toweling off and drinking a little water, I went back to snatching in a 10 + 10 format until I hit 160. I took another short break and snatched to 200. Then after a short break, I snatched in a 5 + 5 format until reaching 210. Then I did 2 + 2 and 1 + 1 to reach 218 snatches in 15 minutes.

I started this workout at around 10:30 AM without having eaten anything since 8:30 PM the night before. I did not mean to train fasted, but I was busy earlier and had not eaten. Lack of food did not seem to slow my snatch practice, but I decided to stop without completing my usual finisher of pullups and pushups. I really enjoyed the scrambled eggs and sauerkraut that I ate afterwards. The overall workout lasted a little less than 27 minutes.
