I finished reading through the Bible a few weeks ago. The plan was to take a full year, but I read ahead and finished early. I started a new reading plan the next day.

I started the ESV Study Bible reading plan that includes readings from four sections of the Bible each day. 1) The Psalms and Wisdom literature, 2) Pentateuch and History of Israel, 3) Chronicles and Prophets, and 4) Gospels and Epistles.

Today my readings included material from Chronicles. Most of Chronicles is boring archival material that is far from inspiring, but one verse grabbed my attention.

“The Levite leader Kenaniah was in charge of the singing, because he was very good at it.” The Everyday Bible: New Century Version (Nashville, TN: Thomas Nelson, Inc., 2005), 1 Chronicles 15:22.

I think God means for us to do things we are good at. If we are good singers, we should sing. If we are good speakers, we should speak. If we are good listeners, we should listen. If we are good builders, we should build. If we are good painters, we should paint.

Kenaniah was in charge of the singing, because he was very good at it. What a great idea!

The bluebird is a good singer. I couldn’t find a picture of Kenaniah.
